I don't have a catalogue here in the dorm, so I copied down codes from the items I want to buy . . .2 Marisol doll & books, and Josefina's weaving outfit. I was hoping to get at least one Marisol with the chubbier mold, because she is so much cuter! To do this I was told to have a PS at AGPlace pick them out? So I need to call an AGPlace with the codes in-hand, ask for a PS and tell them what I want? Then do I try the 10% off code? Does it even work through AGplace? Who sends it to me- the PS or AGPLAce or AG? Is that how it works? I need help!! I have only ever ordered by mail, with a check!

I think you can talk to a personal shopper by calling the general number for AG Place: 1 877 AG PLACE.
I don't think you can use key code discounts. The $10 club discount is an online thing only.

Someone said they tried the code last week on the phone, and it worked. Hmm. Maybe I should just order online then. On the other hand, the chubbier doll is so much better looking. Is it worth the loss of the 10% discount though??? AAHHHH!!!

I placed an order today of replacement code items (ribbons, books, barrettes etc.) by phone and had no problem using the 10% code.

I read in another post that you could use the AG Club discount over the phone... Hmmm... I was hoping that I could because for some reason it isn't working for me online.

You can use codes over the phone with a regular customer service person, but shopping by phone with a PS is the same as walking into the store (only with shipping charges)-- no codes.

So when you call AGplace, do they grab a shopper and stick them on the phone with you so you can tell them what you want, or do they have people in reserve just waiting to pick stuff out for you? I am just wondering how it works on that level. Can you trust them, or is it truly through American Girl? Who ships the items to you- the PS, or the American Girl Company?

There are about 6 personal shoppers in Chicago, or ladies who are dedicated to filling orders for their customers, assisting them when they come into the store, etc. They are not general sales clerks, although I've found the floor clerks to be very helpful and enthusiastic as well.
I don't know what other PSes do, but Ingrid makes a "pull list" (rings your order, charges your credit card, etc.) and has a stockperson pull your items from the store room. Then, she goes through them and packs the box herself. It is then shipped directly from the store.
American Girl Place *is* the American Girl company. If you order through the web or the regular customer service line, your order gets shipped from one (or more ) of several large warehouses/shipping centers. If you order by calling an AGP personal shopper, your items are shipped from store stock.
If you are just placing an order for general stuff that's available online, I'd order online. I only use Ingrid when I need something unusual, low in stock or for preordering new items. I call the regular customer service line when I need to order replacement parts. Otherwise, I order online. The latter two allow you to use a discount code.

Yay! Now I know! I have been pulling my hair out all day trying to figure out what to do. I think I should just order online this time, so I can use the discount. If I really don't like the Marisol face mold, I suppose I could always send her back or resell her. Thanks so much for your help! I am wondering if the chubbier face mold is even available anymore anyway. oh well. Thanks so much everyone for your help!
